Sarah Bonnici emerged as the winner of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest on a memorable Saturday evening, securing her spot to represent Malta at the prestigious Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden, this coming May.
Delivering a captivating performance of her song “Loop,” Bonnici amassed a total of 102 points, outperforming her closest competitor, Matt Blxck, whose song “Banana” received 80 points. Ryan Hili claimed the third spot with his performance of “Karma,” earning 71 points.
Bonnici’s performance was a vibrant display of energy, entertainment, and choreography, making her stand out on the Eurovision stage. The 25-year-old singer from Gozo has been on her Eurovision journey since 2009, when she first made a mark by finishing third in the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest finals.
Returning after her participation in the previous year’s contest with the song “Heaven,” Bonnici demonstrated growth and readiness for the international stage. The decision was made through a combination of scores from a professional jury and votes from the public across Malta, highlighting her broad appeal and strong support base.
