One person has died, and twenty-one others sustained injuries during a shooting incident in Missouri. This tragic event unfolded just as the Kansas City Chiefs were celebrating their Super Bowl win with a victory parade.
According to officials, eight of the victims were in critical condition with life-threatening injuries immediately following the incident, while seven more faced potentially life-threatening injuries.
Among the injured were nine children, who, despite the circumstances, are all expected to make a full recovery.
In response to this violent act, police have successfully apprehended three individuals believed to be connected to the shooting.
The incident occurred to the west of Union Station, a central train station in downtown Kansas City, right at the parade’s conclusion. It was around 2:00 PM local time (8:00 PM GMT) when thousands of fans, gathered to partake in the celebration, were caught off guard by the gunfire.
Reports indicate that members of the Kansas City Chiefs were present on stage at Union Station when the initial shots were fired, sending the crowd, including Kansas City’s mayor and his family, scrambling for safety.
