Ħamrun Spartans secured a valuable goalless draw against FC Ballkani in Kosovo, keeping their UEFA Conference League second qualifying round hopes alive.
Alessandro Zinnari’s team displayed strong defensive resilience, with Ballkani dominating possession but failing to break through. The crucial moment came in the 21st minute when Ballkani was awarded a penalty, but Lindon Emerlahu missed, firing wide.
Despite their defensive focus, the Spartans struggled offensively, failing to register a single shot on target. Changes in the lineup saw Mayron and Mattias Ellul start, while Daniel Letherby and Elionay returned from suspension to bolster the midfield. Vitao made his first start, with Wendell Barros and Talison on the bench.
Ballkani had the better chances, including a disallowed goal in the 62nd minute and a key save by Henry Bonello to deny Karrica. Ħamrun’s only real chance came late from a corner, but Marcelina’s header was cleared.
The tie will be decided in next week’s second leg, where Ħamrun Spartans need to improve their attack to advance.
