The search for survivors from the Bayesian yacht disaster off the coast of Sicily has been temporarily halted overnight after five bodies were discovered, including those of British tech mogul Mike Lynch and his teenage daughter, Hannah.
For days, divers have been tirelessly combing through the wreckage near Porticello, with one body still trapped inside the vessel and another person unaccounted for. The head of Sicily’s civil protection agency announced that the search, paused on Wednesday evening, is set to resume on Thursday.
So far, eight divers from across Italy have recovered five bodies from the submerged yacht, with one more located late Wednesday that remains unrecovered. Among those identified are Mike Lynch, 59, and his 18-year-old daughter. Additionally, the body of Canadian-Antiguan chef Recaldo Thomas was found in open waters shortly after the yacht capsized on Monday. The search continues for a seventh missing individual.
