Antonello Venditti has sparked widespread outrage after insulting a disabled fan who accidentally interrupted his performance during a concert in Barletta on Sunday.
While sharing a personal story on stage, Venditti was interrupted by some unclear words from the audience. He responded by mocking the fan’s speech and challenging them to come on stage if they had the courage.
When informed that the person he insulted was disabled, Venditti remarked, “I understand, but even special kids need to learn manners. There are no special kids when it comes to education.”
A video capturing the incident quickly went viral, leading to widespread condemnation online. Many commented that the fan was a girl who struggles to speak and makes sounds when she’s happy, urging Venditti to apologize.
Venditti soon posted a video on Facebook expressing his regret: “I could cry, I’m deeply sorry. I’m not a monster, and this controversy is absurd for those who know me. I made a mistake because I didn’t realize it was a disabled girl in the dark. I thought it was a political protest, which I’m used to, so I responded harshly to her.”
