Public Broadcasting Services has officially disqualified Alexandra Alden’s song “Magnolia” from the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The decision comes after it was discovered that the song had been released earlier than allowed, violating contest regulations.

Eurovision rules clearly stipulate that songs must not be published or publicly performed before September 1, 2024. This rule is in place to ensure fair competition and maintain the excitement of new entries.

Alden expressed her regret about the situation, explaining that it was an unintentional oversight. She apologized to her fans for the disappointment and promised to return stronger in future competitions.

Despite the disqualification, Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 organizers reassured audiences that the show remains as vibrant as ever. A strong lineup of diverse artists is still set to deliver a memorable and spectacular event.
