Erling Haaland, the prolific Norwegian striker, has reportedly committed his future to Manchester City by signing a groundbreaking nine-and-a-half-year contract extension. This deal, which ties him to the club until 2034, is considered one of the most lucrative in sports history, according to The Athletic.

The new agreement eliminates all release clauses included in Haaland’s previous contract, which was initially set to expire in June 2027.

Haaland joined Manchester City in 2022 from Borussia Dortmund and has since established himself as one of the world’s most lethal strikers under the guidance of manager Pep Guardiola. During his time with the club, he has scored an incredible 111 goals in 126 appearances and contributed to winning numerous trophies, including two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, and the Super Cup.

Despite his remarkable form, with 16 goals already this season, the current campaign has been challenging for Haaland and his teammates. Manchester City currently sits sixth in the Premier League, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool. The team has also struggled in recent months, managing just one win in their last 13 matches across all competitions.

In the Champions League, Guardiola’s side faces a tough battle, as they hover near the play-off line in the league phase with two games remaining.
