A heartbreaking incident unfolded late Monday night in St. Julian’s as an 11-month-old baby girl was discovered lifeless in her bedroom. The tragedy occurred at the family’s residence located on Andre Maurois Street.
According to local media reports, the discovery was made by the infant’s father, a Serbian national, upon his return from work at approximately 11:30 PM.
Reports suggest that when the father arrived home, he inquired about the child’s wellbeing. The mother, who is a British national, reportedly informed him that their daughter was asleep in her room. However, upon checking on the infant, the father found her unresponsive.
Preliminary indications suggest that the infant may have tragically choked on her own vomit.
A magisterial inquiry has been launched, led by Duty Magistrate Franco Galea, to determine the exact cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police investigations are ongoing, and further details are expected as the inquiry proceeds.
