Tragedy struck the Maltese coast this afternoon as a 64-year-old English national lost his life while diving at Wied iż-Żurrieq, off Marsascala.

Emergency Rescue Efforts

The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 PM. Emergency services were swiftly dispatched to the coastline to assist the diver in distress. The coordinated rescue operation involved:

First responders and rescue teams successfully brought the man ashore, where a medical team was waiting to provide immediate emergency assistance.

Hospital Transfer and Investigation

Following the initial on-site medical intervention, the diver was urgently transported to Mater Dei Hospital for further treatment. Tragically, police confirmed that he was pronounced dead a short while later.
