Ingredients:

  • For the Beef:

    • 500 grams beef (rib steak, flank steak, or fillet), cut into thick strips
    • 30 grams soy sauce
    • 15 grams sesame oil
    • 21 grams honey or brown sugar
    • 5 grams chopped garlic
    • Black pepper, to taste
  • For the Creamy Sauce:

    • 30 grams mayonnaise
    • 15 grams soy sauce
    • 15 grams tahini or sesame puree (or peanut butter)
    • 5 grams rice vinegar or lemon juice
    • Water, as needed to dilute (optional)
    • Garlic powder, ginger, or chili pepper, to taste
  • For Serving:

    • Hot white rice (jasmine or basmati)
    • Chives or chopped green onion, for garnish
    • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
    • Chili flakes, for garnish (optional)

Preparation:

  • Marinate the Beef:

    • In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey or brown sugar, chopped garlic, and black pepper.
    • Add the beef strips to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated.
    • Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 1 hour.
  • Cook the Beef:

    • Heat a frying pan or grill over high heat.
    • Remove the beef from the marinade and sear the strips in the hot pan or on the grill.
    • Cook for a few minutes on each side until nicely browned and caramelized to your desired level of doneness.
  • Prepare the Sauce:

    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, soy sauce, tahini or sesame puree (or peanut butter), and rice vinegar or lemon juice.
    • If the sauce is too thick, add a little water, one teaspoon at a time, until it reaches a smooth and pourable consistency.
    • Season with garlic powder, ginger, or chili pepper to your preference.
  • Assemble:

    • Place a serving of hot white rice in a bowl.
    • Arrange the grilled beef strips on top of the rice.
    • Generously drizzle the creamy sauce over the beef.
    • Garnish with chopped chives or green onion, and optionally sprinkle with sesame seeds and chili flakes.
