The hit action-comedy movie Murder Mystery starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler was a massive success when it premiered in June 2019. It quickly became the most-watched Netflix film, prompting the duo to discuss a potential sequel.

Aniston and Sandler have plenty of experience with sequels and the pressures that come with them, having starred in various franchise films. Murder Mystery 2 was announced in October 2019 and follows the pair as a professional detective duo, tracking down a kidnapped friend at a lavish wedding.

Sandler hints at the possibility of follow-ups to some of his most beloved early-career hits such as Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and The Waterboy, but remains tight-lipped on details. Aniston reveals that there were talks of a follow-up to her 2013 family road-trip comedy, We’re the Millers, but it never came to fruition.

The Murder Mystery sequel has high expectations to match the success of its predecessor, and Sandler is determined to make it even bigger.
