Green water has been spotted in several Maltese bays, prompting the Environment and Resources Authority and the Environmental Health Directorate to investigate. The agencies will collect and analyze samples to uncover the cause.
Authorities issued a statement on Sunday, confirming the investigation but not specifying the affected areas. They noted that such algal blooms could be a result of high temperatures and reduced water circulation, typical of current heatwave conditions.
Photos of green water in Balluta Bay have circulated online, causing public concern.
