Belgian footballer Radja Nainggolan, known for his time with Cagliari, Inter, and Roma in Serie A, has been arrested as part of a cocaine trafficking investigation. Currently playing for Lokeren-Temse, Nainggolan was detained on Monday morning in connection with the import of cocaine from South America to Europe, primarily through the port of Antwerp.

Authorities confirmed the arrest following raids on approximately 30 properties across Antwerp and Brussels. The investigation aims to uncover a drug trafficking network and its redistribution in Belgium. Nainggolan’s car and other possessions were seized as part of the operation.

While no further details have been released due to ongoing interrogations, this isn’t Nainggolan’s first alleged link to the drug world. Reports indicate that one of his business partners in a private jet firm was previously convicted of drug smuggling for Hezbollah. Additionally, Nainggolan has reportedly been seen associating with individuals connected to Antwerp’s drug scene.

This investigation casts a shadow over the career of the once-celebrated footballer as authorities continue to uncover details of the operation.
