Taylor Swift has once again etched her name into music history by being crowned the IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year for the fifth time. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), which represents the global recorded music industry, awarded Swift this prestigious title, marking her third consecutive year at the top.
Her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, dominated multiple IFPI charts, securing the No.1 position on the Global Album Chart, Global Vinyl Album Chart, Global Streaming Album Chart, and Global Album Sales Chart. Swift’s immense popularity and ongoing success were further bolstered by The Eras Tour, which reignited global interest in her previous albums. 1989 (Taylor’s Version) (2023), Midnights (2022), folklore (2020), evermore (2020), and Lover (2019) all placed within the Top 20 of IFPI’s 2024 Global Vinyl Album Chart.
Victoria Oakley, CEO of IFPI, praised Swift’s incredible achievement, stating, “We are immensely proud to award the IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year Award to Taylor Swift for the fifth time, as she continues to redefine the limits of global success. This has been a huge year for Taylor, and it has been incredible to see the extent to which fans all over the world are connecting with her superb catalogue of music.”
