A tragic incident claimed the life of an elderly man earlier today following a fatal fall at his residence in Ta’ Sannat, Gozo.
The Malta Police Force was alerted to the incident on Ta’ Ċenċ Street this morning at approximately 7:45 AM.
According to preliminary police investigations, the 76-year-old victim was carrying out maintenance work at his home. He was reportedly standing on a ladder when, for reasons still unknown, he lost his balance and fell into an internal courtyard. The police noted that the fall was from a significant height of approximately three storeys.
A medical team was immediately dispatched to the scene to assist the victim. Tragically, despite their rapid response, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Duty Magistrate Dr. Jean Paul Grech LL.D has been informed of the fatality and has ordered a magisterial inquiry to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
Police investigations into the tragic accident are currently ongoing.
