UPDATE: Jessica Camilleri, a 41-year-old social worker from St. Paul’s Bay, has been identified as the second victim in the fatal double accident that also claimed the life of well-known DJ Ryan Spiteri late last night.
The local community remains in shock following the tragic discovery of the two individuals on Tuesday evening.
According to police reports, the bodies of Mr. Spiteri and Ms. Camilleri were discovered inside a vehicle in a garage on Triq Salvu Buhagiar in Marsascala at approximately 9:00 PM.
Cause of Death Confirmed
A police statement issued today confirmed that autopsies have established the deaths as accidental. The victims tragically succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning. The toxic gas built up rapidly from the car’s exhaust fumes within the enclosed garage space, where the vehicle’s engine had been left running to power the air conditioning.
With the autopsy results confirming the accidental nature of the tragedy, authorities have ruled out both suicide and homicide.
A magisterial inquiry, led by the duty magistrate, alongside ongoing police investigations, remains open to establish the full timeline of this heartbreaking event.
