The world of Italian entertainment is in mourning following the passing of Enrica Bonaccorti, who died at the age of 76. The news was confirmed by TG5 director Clemente Mimun via X (formerly Twitter). Bonaccorti passed away at the Ars Biomedica clinic in Rome, less than two years after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Savona on November 18, 1949, Bonaccorti was a powerhouse of talent whose career spanned theater, cinema, radio, and television. She was not only a beloved presenter but also an accomplished lyricist and actress.
A Career Defined by Versatility
Enrica Bonaccorti’s journey began in the 1960s when she was chosen by the legendary Domenico Modugno for the stage production Mi è cascata una ragazza nel piatto. Her collaboration with “Mimmo” Modugno extended into songwriting; she penned the lyrics for the timeless classics Amara terra mia and La lontananza.
In the 1970s, she became a fixture of Italian cinema and television originals, appearing in cult films such as The Antichrist and Love and Anarchy. Her official TV debut as a host came in 1978 with the game show Il sesso forte, alongside Michele Gammino.
The Golden Era of Television
The 1980s solidified her status as a household name. She reached the height of her popularity with Rai programs like Italia sera and the iconic Pronto, chi gioca?.
Later, she made a high-profile move to Fininvest (now Mediaset), where she hosted the very first edition of the era-defining variety show Non è la Rai. Throughout her career, she remained a symbol of elegance and professional wit, transitioning seamlessly between high-brow radio programs like L’uomo della notte and mainstream television successes.
