The long-awaited shift to Summer Time is finally here. Tonight, across the Maltese Islands, we officially “Spring Forward,” trading one hour of sleep for an extra hour of evening sunlight as we move into the sunniest part of the year.
The Official Change: Sunday, March 29, 2026
To ensure you aren’t late for your Sunday plans, make sure to adjust your clocks during the night between Saturday and Sunday.
-
The Time: At precisely 02:00 AM, the time will jump to 03:00 AM.
-
The Action: Move your clocks 1 hour forward.
-
The Nickname: This is known globally as “Spring Forward.”
While most digital devices, like your smartphone and laptop, will update automatically, remember to manually change your oven clock, car display, and any analog watches before you head to bed.
What Changes for You?
The immediate effect of this change is a shift in daylight. While the sun will rise a bit later in the morning, the real benefit is the extra hour of daylight in the evening. This extra light is perfect for enjoying Malta’s outdoor lifestyle, whether it’s a walk along the Sliema promenade or a sunset dinner in Mdina.
Looking Ahead to Winter
We will remain on Summer Time (GMT+2) throughout the spring and summer months. The clocks are scheduled to move backward by one hour again on October 25, 2026, returning us to Central European Time.
