Reports are swirling around the Maltese football scene that Luciano Zauri may be on the verge of joining reigning champions Hamrun Spartans as their new manager. Zauri, who played for the Italian National team and several Serie A clubs during his playing days, has been making waves in coaching circles in recent years.
Zauri’s coaching career began as an assistant to Massimo Oddo at Pescara, where he served as caretaker manager following Oddo’s dismissal in February 2017. He then returned to the club as Under-19 coach in the 2018-19 season before being promoted to head coach in June 2019. Zauri’s tenure as head coach was relatively short-lived, as he resigned in January 2020 after a loss to Salernitana.
