Celine Dion has thrilled fans with her stunning comeback at the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony.
The French-Canadian singer shared her excitement on X:
“I’m honored to have performed tonight for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony. It’s a joy to be back in one of my favorite cities! Most importantly, I’m celebrating these incredible athletes and their stories of sacrifice, determination, pain, and perseverance.
“You’ve all been focused on your dreams. Whether or not you win a medal, I hope being here means your dream has come true. Be proud, we know how hard you’ve worked to be the best. Stay focused and keep going. My heart is with you! – Celine xx”
On Friday evening, Dion performed Edith Piaf’s “Hymne de l’Amour” from a platform on the Eiffel Tower, marking the final number of the ceremony. This was her first public performance in four years, following her 2019 diagnosis with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological condition. She also shared her health journey in the Prime Video documentary “I Am: Celine.”
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau praised her on X:
“A proud Quebecer from Charlemagne is on stage at the Opening Ceremony! Celine Dion is a Canadian icon, an incredible talent, and she overcame a lot to be there tonight. Céline, it’s great to see you singing again.”
