Hamrun Spartans recently visited fans residing at the Corradino Correctional Facility, spreading the joy of their championship victory. The visit was organized by Ħamrun Ħanin, a voluntary organization responsible for the social aspect of the local football champions. The aim was to ensure that everyone, including those currently in the facility for various reasons, could share in the excitement of the team’s ninth title win.
During the visit, two prominent players from Hamrun, Ognjen Bjeličić and Roko Prsa, interacted with the residents, sharing their personal experiences with the club. Team Manager David Camilleri and Kit Manager Gilbert Camilleri were also present. The players and Ħamrun Ħanin officials were warmly received by Christopher Siegersma, the facility’s director, and Manolito Micallef, who oversees sports activities at the facility.
Ian Debattista, Chairman of Ħamrun Ħanin, explained that the organization’s purpose is to ensure that everyone can experience the joy that football brings, especially when their favorite team achieves a championship. He emphasized the significance of the visit to the residents, who have continued to support the team despite their challenging circumstances. Debattista believes that the visit will inspire them with courage and determination to reintegrate into the community as soon as circumstances permit.
