The new YoHealth Malta Premier League season for 2025/26 begins today, marking the second year of the new format. Twelve teams, each with their own goals, are ready to compete. Some are aiming for the championship title, while others are focused on maintaining their place in the top division.

  • Hamrun Spartans are the defending champions and are chasing a historic fourth consecutive title. If they succeed, they will be only the second club to achieve this feat, a record previously set by Floriana between 1949/50 and 1952/53.

  • The competition is fierce. Floriana, Birkirkara, and Sliema Wanderers have all prepared for the challenge, with the latter making some significant new signings over the summer.

  • Other notable clubs to watch include Hibernians and the return of Valletta City, whose presence promises to add more excitement to the league.
