US actor Matthew Perry, famous for his role as Chandler Bing in the popular ’90s TV show Friends, has passed away at the age of 54.
According to law enforcement sources in Los Angeles, Perry was discovered deceased at his home.
Friends, a sitcom depicting the lives of six young friends in New York City, ran from 1994 to 2004. Its final episode drew 52.5 million viewers in the US, making it the most-watched TV episode of the 2000s.
Reports from the LA Times and TMZ initially broke the news of Perry’s passing, stating that he was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his residence.
The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that they responded to a “water emergency” at an address in the Pacific Palisades area, without naming Perry.
Warner Bros. TV, the producer of Friends, expressed their grief at the loss of Matthew Perry in a statement: “We are devastated by the passing of our dear friend Matthew Perry.
