AS Roma has officially declared the departure of their manager, Jose Mourinho, due to the team’s disappointing performance, which has resulted in a ninth-place standing in Serie A. Mourinho, who was appointed as Roma’s manager in 2021 following his dismissal from Tottenham, initially had a triumphant tenure, securing the Conference League title, the club’s first silverware in over a decade.
During his second year, Mourinho led Roma to the Europa League final, where they were defeated by Sevilla. However, the team’s poor league performance led to growing discord with the club’s management, a situation that worsened in the current season as the team’s performance continued to decline.
The club released a statement confirming the immediate termination of Mourinho and his coaching team, stating, “AS Roma can confirm that Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff will leave the club with immediate effect.” The statement also mentioned that information regarding the new coaching staff for the First Team would be announced soon.
