Pippo Baudo, a legendary figure in Italian television, has passed away at the age of 89. Born Giuseppe Raimondo Vittorio Baudo on June 7, 1936, in Militello in Val di Catania, he became one of Italy’s most beloved and influential presenters.

Baudo’s career was marked by his exceptional versatility and talent. He hosted numerous iconic Italian TV shows, becoming a staple in households across the country.

  • A record-breaking 13 times as host of the Sanremo Festival, from 1968 to 2008, where he also served as artistic director for seven of those editions.

  • Hosting some of Italy’s most popular programs, including Settevoci, Canzonissima, Domenica in, and Fantastico.
