In a monumental night for music and international television, the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna delivered a historic result. After taking a hiatus from the competition, Bulgaria made a triumphant return to claim its first-ever Eurovision victory, while Malta secured a respectable top 20 finish.
Bulgaria’s Triumphant Return
It’s DARA who has triumphed for Bulgaria with her electrifying hit, “Bangaranga”. Bulgaria returned to the Eurovision Song Contest for Vienna 2026 after sitting out three consecutive contests between 2023 and 2025. The country will undoubtedly be thrilled with its decision to return—coming back with a true bang!
Bulgaria won the Contest with a massive total of 516 points. As is Eurovision tradition, the scores were first awarded by the national juries, followed by the dramatic and highly anticipated reveal of the public televote.
-
Jury Vote: 204 points
-
Televote: 312 points
DARA’s “Bangaranga” completely smashed both sets of voting. In an incredibly rare feat, the song ended up winning both the jury vote and the public vote. This marks the first time in almost a decade—since Kyiv in 2017—that the juries and the public have chosen the exact same winner.
Malta Secures 18th Place with AIDAN
Representing Malta, AIDAN delivered a stellar performance with his song “Bella”, ultimately finishing in 18th place.
The Maltese entry garnered a total of 89 points by the end of the voting sequence. A major highlight for Malta was the jury voting phase, where “Bella” achieved the highly coveted maximum score of 12 points on three separate occasions, proving the song’s strong appeal among international music professionals.
A Spectacular 70th Anniversary in Vienna
The Grand Final was a global television phenomenon, watched by an estimated audience of over 160 million viewers worldwide.
Throughout the evening, the Vienna stage hosted incredible performances featuring impressive visual effects, all culminating in a special celebration honoring the 70th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest.
In total, 25 countries competed in the Grand Final. This included the host nation, Austria, as well as the automatic qualifiers known as the “Big Four”—the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy. As always, the final results were decided by a tense 50/50 split between the national expert juries and the passionate public televote, ending in an unforgettable victory for Bulgaria.
